Back in early 2012, I was part of a competition entry for a music video competition. It was put on by Genero TV and my role was the lead male actor.
The experience was a bit of a whirlwind. Tall Man Short Man Films Jamie Korn messaged me out of the blue, looking for a male lead, stating that the shoot was in two days.
The job was unpaid, I was just acting for fun and was not a trained actor so would never expect it to be anything else, but they did kindly offer to pay expenses due to the sheer distance of the shoot location from where I lived – it was shot at a remote beach named Seahouses, which is over an hour’s drive away.
Anyhow, the competition was to create a video narrative for Mona’s hit song Lean into the Fall, the winning entry would become the official music video for the song.
It took about half a day to shoot, and it was a very damp and cold day (look at the colour of my hands to see just how cold and wet). What made it worse was the fact that the trousers the wardrobe department had sorted for me were far too small, tight would be an understatement.

A funny story is that when the head of wardrobe saw me she said that she was afraid that the trousers would be too big. She got quite the shock when the reverse was the case. All I can say is I never miss legs day.
Unfortunately, the entry did not win, but it was a finalist, and I am most proud of the fact that the band made the following comments:
“This felt like it could have been a short film. Great acting and loved the overall feel. A quality piece of filmmaking.”
Considering this, I’ve always wanted to show people it, which has never been possible as it was not available anywhere, and then I released the song, Dreaming of the Day, and the video seemed to flow perfectly with the song, so I combined the two.
I hope Jamie and the rest of the team are okay with me doing this, unfortunately I don’t have contact with them to check. Hopefully they are. Here is the video, I hope all enjoy it, it truly was a brilliant video:
